HOW IT WORKS

The fundamental purpose of “Discovery” is to learn about your unique skills and talents and what you want to pursue. Through our in-depth, person-centered approach, we spend one-on-one time with you in the community to identify your strengths and abilities, along with your likes and dislikes. This can be done by trying various job activities, observing you at home doing household tasks, and engaging in business tours. This process results in your Discovery Profile.

The Assessment process is a period of 4-6 weeks during which you will have the opportunity to try out a variety of jobs that interest you. During this time, we learn firsthand about your specific on-the-job preferences, skills, abilities, and training and support needs. This step results in an Assessment Profile and your personal resume, which can be in written or video format.

When you enter the Job Development phase, we begin the search for a position that is based on the information we have gathered. Each job search is as unique as your own dreams and goals. Using our network of partnerships, we work to find the best job match for you. As with any job placement, this can take time.

Our professional Job Coach staff helps you with the initial detailed on-the-job training. We continue with ongoing support throughout your employment, to help your job placement be successful for both you and your employer.

ESTeeM is a new training program aimed at preparing you for the workforce by enhancing the skills that will be important for successful employment. The focus includes preparing for the interview, identifying proper attire, understanding communication and professionalism in the work setting, safety and self-management skills. You may consider enrolling in this class during the Job Development phase.
