Job Coach

Job Summary
A job coach provides training, supervision, and support to people who experience intellectual/developmental disabilities
in employment-related activities which promotes a person’s independence and success in the workplace while focusing on
integration and coordination of supported employment services. In addition to employment activities, Job Coaches will
provide support in homes or the community as needed. Responsible for assisting individuals (supported employees) to be
successfully employed in the community, in line with our belief that everyone can work, with adherence to our Vision and
Mission.

Qualifications
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. No experience necessary; we provide job specific training.

● Be able to perform the physical functions and activities of the job with or without reasonable accommodations,
which may include (but not limited to) lifting, bending, twisting, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
● Be able to pass pre-employment, post-offer drug screen and physical/functional exam.
● Be able to pass criminal background check in accordance with Oregon Revised Statute 181.537 and Oregon
Administrative Rules 125-007-0200 to 125-007-0330, 407-007-0200 to 407-007-0370, and 943-007-0000(2).
● Must have valid Oregon Driver’s License, proof of vehicle insurance, and acceptable driving record.
● Must have reliable personal vehicle for driving supported individuals as needed. (Mileage is reimbursed.)
● Must be eligible for driving agency vehicles as determined by agency insurance carrier.
Position Description
● Be able to evacuate the premises independently in case of emergency. Must be able to assist supported individuals
to do the same.
● Participate in CPR and First Aid Certification training, OIS, and any other position-required trainings within 60
days of employment (or the soonest class thereafter).
● Complete At least one Department-approved competency-based supported employment training within 90 days
from hire date.
● Complete required Core Competencies within 1 year of employment.
● Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with barriers or disabilities to perform the
essential functions.
● Must be at least 18 years old. Minimum 3 years licensed driver.
Training: Responsible for completing a minimum of 16 hours of pre-service training and Core Competencies in first year.
This position includes the completion of a minimum of 12 hours of pertinent in-service training annually.
Roles and Responsibilities
● Design and implement job supports and provide on-the-job training for supported individuals.
● Conduct job analysis and structure vocational environments for an individual’s success.
● Provide assistance and training to the supported individual’s site coworkers and community business to provide
necessary support to meet job expectations.
● Provide support and training for transportation as needed.
● Establish communication, continue contact and coordination of supports between the supported individual and
their family, home/residential supports, employer, and other team members including County Case Manager or
Brokerage Personal Agent, Vocational Rehab Counselor, as needed.
● Promote and model workplace appropriate socializing and relationships between supported individuals and their
coworkers and supervisors.
● Check in with supported employee and employer regularly to ensure expectations are met, retrain or train on new
tasks, and problem-solve as needed. Ensuring individuals sustained employment through regular contact and
engagement.
● Provide necessary support to individuals for functioning at their job site or in the community (e.g.
communication, personal care, behavioral, accommodations, etc.).
● Communicate with the team and employment manager about supported employee’s work performance.
● Document supports, issues and progress toward goals in Therap (tlogs) regularly and in a timely manner.
● Complete any correspondences for Voc Rehab or other service providers; document and submit financial and
billing data for reports as required by funding agencies.
● Participate and support individuals in community integration activities.
● Maintain records and operations as specified in the Oregon Administrative Rules for Employment Services as
directed by Manager or Director.
● Participate in Individual Support Plan (ISP) meetings/activities for supported individuals and provide
information as requested on individual’s skills, goals and interests.
● Implement and follow Individual Support Plan and support documents for individuals.
● Specific supports may include assisting, monitoring, and coordinating activities in homes or the community.
Support strategies are to be designed and implemented in ways that help the individual achieve increased
independence and social integration in the community, especially making new friends and establishing new
relationships.
● In times of need or emergency assist individuals and other programs with any required support.
● Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through personal growth, modeling inclusive
behavior, and being a catalyst for change.

Work Schedule
This position is classified under FLSA as an hourly non-exempt position and is subject to applicable wage and hours laws
as outlined by the FLSA for hourly non-exempt positions. Specific days and hours are scheduled by program management
according to the needs of the program and the individuals served. Schedules will be flexible and subject to change.
Schedules focus on program and individuals’ needs and are expected to include evenings and weekends.
This is a full-time (32-hour/week) position.
