Spring Art Show
Finding Connection
An Artist, A Collector, and the Story Behind 'Safari'
May 19, 2026
Artist Justin Warren and Jerry Kenefick discuss Justin's painting Safari at the Spring Art Show.
A Conversation from the Spring Art Show
Some of the most meaningful moments from an event are the ones where people open up and share what something really means to them.
During this year's Spring Art Show, artist Justin Warren stood beside his painting, Safari, talking about the inspiration behind the piece while supporter and collector Jerry shared why he decided to buy it. The conversation was genuine, thoughtful, and honestly just really moving to listen to.
More Than Decorating a Wall
We admire art all the time. We hang it on our walls, gift it to people we love, and sometimes spend years searching for just the right piece. But it's not often that the person who created the work and the person who chose to bring it home actually get to meet. That's part of what made this moment so special.
Justin spoke with so much pride about his work and the creative process behind it. You could tell this painting meant something to him. And when Jerry explained why artwork from the studio matters to him, it became clear that the connection people feel to these pieces goes far beyond simply decorating a wall.
That was really the spirit of the entire evening.
"I have four of Justin’s paintings in my house. The color is dynamic. Every time I walk by one, I stop and look." — Jerry Kenefick, Studio Art Collector
A Celebration of Creativity and Connection
The Spring Art Show brought together artists, families, supporters, staff, and community members to celebrate creativity and connection. Guests spent the evening walking through the gallery, talking with artists, hearing the stories behind the artwork, and finding pieces that genuinely spoke to them.
Part of what makes the studio so special is that it's open to everyone. The Studio at Living Opportunities has become a lively hub for creativity and connection across the Rogue Valley, with workshops in painting, music, and other art forms designed to be accessible for all community members, including those experiencing disabilities. It's a place where people can make art, build confidence, form friendships, and share their talents with the broader community.
Artists and art lovers gathered for a fun celebration of art and music.
And throughout the night, you could see those connections happening everywhere.
People lingered in front of paintings. Artists talked about their work with excitement. Visitors asked questions, laughed together, and shared what certain pieces reminded them of. It felt less like a formal event and more like a community coming together around creativity.
Moments like Justin and Jerry's conversation are a reminder of why the Spring Art Show matters so much. Art creates connection. It opens doors to conversation. And sometimes, it helps people see one another a little differently.
We're grateful to everyone who attended, supported the artists, purchased artwork, volunteered, or helped make this year's show possible. It was a beautiful evening, and one we won't forget anytime soon.
